Oh my goodness…Good Lord, Lord help me, Jesus Christ. These are really the only phrases that come to mind when I think back about “My Ordeal” during the 2014 Harvest Moon Regatta. Well the only expletive free phrases. I had planned all along to try the Ear Plug Trick for Seasickness during this race as I’ve had such great success with it in the past. Honestly every time I’ve tried it on Ole Lake Pontchy it worked. It has worked even in more than moderate conditions […]

It all started out so calmly…
We headed out early to pick up crew.
Aboard Todd Johnson’s Morning Sun were six souls. Todd, Tate, Dani, Danny, Kay, and Katerina. The TTDDKK crew. Todd you all know from our posts about last years HMR and he returns this year as a fun and safe skipper. New to us were:

Kay, who is a kind TX Power Squadron member and crews with Todd often
Katerina, who is a bundle of overwhelming energy and impervious to se […]

It taught us many things about boats at sea and gave us some good ideas of how sailing out across an ocean must be. We’re very grateful for the opportunity that Todd Johnson gave us in allowing us to crew aboard his W […]

Well we are all packed and ready to drive to Galveston, Tx today to crew with skipper Todd aboard SV Morning Sun (another Westsail 32 who we met during last years Westsail rendezvous) to participate in the Harvest Moon Regatta, the first time for us.
That’s her under sail on the left.
We will be carrying a “Spot” gps locator beacon that transmits our location every 10 minutes or so. If you go to this link (Harvest Moon regatta race tracking) and scroll through the list of boat names, […]
