We hit the boat last night for about an hour to slip a few things in. It started with me revisiting the raw water intake seacock which I had remembered had a barnacle growing in it. I had a nightmare about it getting caught in the heat exchanger so I the first thing I did at the boat was get back into that thruhull. When I looked in it with my flashlight though I couldn’t see a barnacle. Instead eight eyes stared back at me!

So. We did install the motor. We did install the motor bed plates. We did install everything related to that. However, I had this sneaking suspicion that using that starboard that was glued up was a mistake. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. But I did know that it would irk me forever.
I went to the local metal shop and bought a bunch of plate aluminum and then delivered it all to a machine shop and had these guys made up to replace the engine mount plates we had previously instal […]

Warning. This post will have a ton of photographs in it.
Today started with getting to the yard early and asking the yard to go ahead and bring the engine over to use the crane and also to have the yard remove the propeller. They were actually on time.
As the yard was getting the motor ready I went ahead and scraped any old paint off of the flange of the shaft coupling and brushed it clean with a metal brush.

The day started with rain and dropping temperatures. Ah the sweet herald of victory.
Bud was on the way. He had boarded the flight from California that would carry him to Dallas and then on to New Orleans. That gave Dani and I only a couple of hours to finish the last remaining task we needed to do before he arrived. After a final conversation with him he told us to go ahead and pull the old engine bed plates.

Today is another NEW TOOL DAY.
Today’s new tool came in a big box.
Or does an engine count as a tool? Maybe its just a new engine day.
