After purchasing our new RV in mid-Jan 2016 we spent the next month casually outfitting her and getting her ready for comfortable off grid living. Now she is good and well and ready to go. AS SOON as the weather here in Louisiana gets better (maybe tomorrow) we are leaving our home bases and heading north.

We went slightly over our budget but not by much.

These are some of the items we addressed in the Refit.

  1. Solar panels (400 watts of Renogy Panels with controller from Amazon)
  2. LED lighting throughout
  3. New tires
  4. Jerry jugs for water and fuel
  5. RV specific Garmin GPS with backup camera (this thing is awesome!)
  6. Kitchen backsplash
  7. New rugs/pillows
  8. Latex mattress topper
  9. Recovered headboard and valances
  10. Swivel captains chairs
  11. Yeti 50qt ice chest (used)
  12. Ozoned the vehicle

These are the rough numbers for getting the RV ready to go:

$ 10,000 purchase price
$  1,010 tax and registration
$  2,000 tires, sway bars and brakes inspected
$  2,017 misc
$     800 solar panel install
$     350 RV GPS
$16,177 Total for RV

We LOVE our 2nd home and feel we did a good job at cutting down costs but still making her into an actual home.

See what all we did in our new Vlog!
